Annemarie Schimmel (1922-2003) was a renowned German scholar of Islam and author of eighty books, including Mystical Dimensions of Islam and A Two-Colored Brocade: The Imagery of Persian Poetry, Islam: An Introduction, also published by SUNY Press, and the editor of the SUNY Press series, Muslim spiritualty in South Asia.She was a Professor in the Departement of Near Eastern Languages at Harvard University. |
